Stitch Fix #10 Review

I've had some pretty hit or miss fixes from Stitch Fix.  I've tried not leaving notes for my stylist to keep it up to her and I've tried leaving notes, but I always felt like they weren't read.  I had the same stylist for 3 or 4 fixes, but then requested someone new.  And since then I've gotten a different stylist each time.  But I think I've found her!  Megan rocked it!

I was a little apprehensive before this fixed arrived.  When I peeked online at what I was getting, I was not impressed, but it turned out better than I expected.  My only complaint was the lack of color.  I left a note for my stylist telling her that I have been looking for bootcut jeans, colored skinnies, a vest and would love to try the Margaret M pants that I've heard great things about.  Here's what I received:

Item #1 - Market and Spruce Margerie Stripe & Dot Open Cardigan $68

I'm pretty sure Market & Spruce is a Stitch Fix in house brand.  It has ruching across the lower back to give it some shape.  Honestly, I LOVE this cardigan!  It's lightweight, so great for fall and spring in St. Louis.  But, it is very similar to another open cardigan that Stitch Fix sent me in March of this year.  It's the exact same colors.  I like this one more than the other one, but how many blue and white striped open cardigans do I need?  It does seem a little pricey considering how light weight it is.  Decisions, decisions.

Item #2 - Sanctuary Elton Mixed Knit Hooded Sweatshirt $54

This is made very well.  From this picture, it looks like something I could easily find anywhere, but it has some details that make it unique.  I'm not loving this sweater though.  It's a little too boxy on me and the hood is really large.  I'm not feeling this one.

Item #3 - 41 Hawthorne Trip Longsleeve Colorblock Sweater $58

Kind of not feeling this one either.  I'm usually not a fan of colorblocking, but this one isn't bad.  The beginning of the black seems to hit in just the wrong spot so that I feel like I look pregnant.  The thinness of this sweater makes it appear shapeless on me.  41 Hawthorne is a Stitch Fix brand.

Item #4 - Pixley Dalila Faux Leather Lapel French Terry Vest $68

Yes!  I love this!  And it makes me like the colorblock sweater more.  When I saw that I was receiving a faux leather vest, I was frustrated because my style profile says no leather and no pleather.  But, really, this is perfect.  My stylist gave me tons of suggestions on how to wear it.  I can't wait to try it out!  Pixley is also a Stitch Fix brand.

Item #5 - Kut From the Kloth Denna Colored Skinny Jean $78

These are pictured above with the colorblock sweater and vest.  When I asked for colored skinnies, I wasn't picturing olive.  They fit well, are pretty comfortable and will go with a ton of clothes I already have.  Keeper!

Overall, I really enjoyed this fix.  Should I talk myself into keeping the open cardigan?  I love it, but I don't need it.  We'll see what happens!

Planners from inkWELL PRESS

For months, I've been frustrated with the calendar on my phone.  It just doesn't do the things I want it to do - or organize the way I need it to.  So I've been pondering the idea of a paper planner.  It seems so out of date, but I knew that I would be able to find one that could combine many of my lists.  It would hold my calendar, my to-do list for short term and long-term items, meal planning, etc.  I was hoping a good planner would simplify my planning.  Enter inkWELL PRESS.

These planners are gorgeous!
I ordered my planner last night and it is already in production.  You can choose to have it personalized for $5.  There are two options for your weekly calendar pages, classic or flex.  The classic option has a vertical appearance with times for appointments, while the flex has horizontal rows with no times listed. I cannot wait to get my hands on my planner and share all the special features with you!

Who Doesn't Love a Clearance Sale?

Last night, I went to Dillards to try on some bras.  Bra shopping is such a process and usually lasts numerous weeks for me.  I go to the store, try on way too many bras and buy a couple to take home.  Of course, once I'm at home and trying them on with different shirts, etc., I discover that they don't work for some particular reason.  Anyway, back to the point of this, major clearance sale at Dillards.  40% of the lowest ticketed price!  So I bought my requisite 3 bras and of course checked out those sale racks.  I found adorable paisley pajamas for $12 (originally $68).  Maybe now my husband won't complain about my oversized t-shirt with holes in it that I usually wear to bed.

So, today's outfit:

Pink Cowlneck Sleep to Street by Half Moon. ($10.08 - originally $48)
Daru Bootcut in Black by Fabletics.

Please forgive the terrible bathroom picture.  This shirt is super comfy and a great bright pink color.  I love that I can wear this with my workout pants for a comfy day around the house, but can run to get the kids from school and feel like I look nice.  It's just as comfortable as my workout pants and a t-shirt, but much cuter!  Win!  It will also work with skinny jeans and leggings.  Bonus:  this shirt has pockets on the front which is great for when I'm wearing workout pants that don't have pockets.  A place for my phone and ponytail holder.  What more can a busy mom ask for?

Fabletics is a company by Kate Hudson which sells athletic clothes.  You can sign up as a VIP and get special pricing, but you have to go to the site every month by the 10th and either order an outfit at the $49.99 price point or click a link to "skip" that month.  I have found the pants to be a great deal when order within an outfit for $49.99.  I have washed them a few times and they are holding up well.  One thing I really like is they give you reward points for reviewing clothing on the site.  When you order, you can look at all the reviews and the statistics people have reported about sizing.  I love that I can read reviews that say, "I'm always a medium, but this medium is way too small."  It makes online shopping much easier!

Stitch Fix #3 Review - What a Dud

When I received my 2nd Fix in November, I loved all the pieces!  But it was all summery stuff and it was November.  In St. Louis!  Hello!!!  I don't really feel like I should have to tell Stitch Fix what the season is where I live.  They should be able to figure it out from my profile.  (I've noticed from reading other reviews that this is a reoccurring problem.)

So, when I scheduled my third fix (for January), I specified that I wanted winter pieces...sweaters and cardigans.  I have a Stitch Fix Pinterest Board with tons of pins of outfits and pieces what I like, but it most not have clearly indicated what I wanted!

The Box!  Who doesn't love getting that in the mail?

Opening the loveliness! (With the help of DD.)

Olive & Oak Arrington Contrast Trim Sweater  $68
When I saw the neckline peeking out of the tissue, I was ecstatic.  The colors!  Soft, shiny, slivery gray and turquoise.  Love! Simple, but a little different.  I noticed that it had a loose weave, so I checked for a "Don't try on with jewelry" tag and didn't see one.  So on it went.  Loved it.  Keeping for sure!

Sadly, when I put this back on after trying everything on, I noticed this:
My ring caught that loose weave I was talking about.  Boo! - Back it goes!

Ellison Cordelia Striped Boat Neck Sweater  $58
I thought this was okay.  Pretty plain and it seems like I could find something similar at pretty much every store I shop at.  And at those stores in wouldn't be $58, which I don't think is that much for a nice sweater, but this was not special enough and made of acrylic.  No thanks.  And the sleeves were too short, which you can't really tell in the pic.  (The cuffs were sewn up, I didn't fold them.)

RD Style Trinity Raglan Knit Hi-Lo Sweater Tunic  $68
No, just no.  The color doesn't seem bad here, but how boring and bland, especially in January.  Also, this fit like a glove, which probably would have worked if it weren't for the hi lo.  It did not look good over my rear!  The tightness and hi lo aspects did not work together.  At least not on me.  Ugh.

                                   The rear view - Yuck!

RD Style McComas Drape Front Cardigan  $68
This had potential coming out of the box, but no, not going to work.  It hangs funny, is made out of really gross acrylic and one side was larger than the other.  (I own lots of acrylic, but I'm not paying $68 for acrylic that isn't a nice acrylic.)  I got two sweaters in this fix from RD Style and I'm not impressed.  The quality just wasn't there.  This sweater just seems frumpy.

Just Black Adora Skinny Jean  $88
Nope!  They look alright in this pic, but look closely - you can see the muffin top!  While these weren't the wrong size, they hit in just the wrong place.  They were too low rise for my high hips.  There were a beautiful color though!

I returned everything - disappointing.  The clothes in this fix were just not right.  So that night, I went to Nordstrom and got a ton of sweaters that I love!

What I Want

So I am going to use this space for Stitch Fix to get a feel for my style...or lack there of.  I've gotten 3 Fixes and while each one has been somewhat disappointing, it's still fun.
Today's outfit.
Bootcut jeans from Buckle,
light gray sweater from Old Navy (on clearance for $8!)
layered over a black tank
and necklace from JCP (Clearance $7!).

I think this is a very basic, classic look.  A go-to for my mostly SAHM days.  Simple, yet cute and comfortable.  Obviously, I would be disappointed if Stitch Fix sent this to me.  Only because what I want from them is unique pieces...ones that I'm not going to pick out for myself when I'm shopping.  At the same time, I want pieces that I will get use out of.  Clothes that won't just sit in my closet because while cute and I "have" to have them, they aren't practical.
